The Friends Of Creigiau Primary School was set up in April 1980 as an organisation to raise funds for the school. It was agreed that social events would be held in the school for the parents of the children. With the emphasis on fun, several events were held like Bring and Buy Sales and the sale of Cakes and Ice Cream at sports days.
Nowadays, the emphasis is on the children having fun at events put on by the Friends - our end of term discos, Leavers Party Night for the year 6 children etc. But we still sell ice cream at sports day!
We also put on family events – Bonfire celebrations, BBQs and Twmpaths, Christmas Fayres, with the occasional event for adults. Over the last 3 years, we have held a stall at the Creigiau Carnival, selling Pimm’s and strawberries thus forging a bond with the carnival committee and Creigiau 23. In recent years, we have helped manage the Fun Run.
The committee still likes to keep the Fun in fundraising whilst raising some much needed cash for the school. We would welcome anyone interested in joining the committee, we meet on a monthly basis, more often before a large event. Any fundraising ideas or raffle prize donations are particularly welcome and please you can help by simply participating in as many events & fundraising initiatives as you can.

The term got off to a great start for us with the Ties and Tiaras Ball on the 3rd October. Thank you to all those who came along and supported us – it was a fantastic night and we raised around £700 for the school! Thanks in particular go to Liz and Charlotte for all their hard work organising the ball, and also to Mr and Mrs Brice for their very generous donation of 2 tickets to the Wales vs New Zealand rugby game next month – these raised £200 alone in our auction!
New Committee
A new committee was voted in at our AGM on 14th October. They are :-

Treasurer - Charlotte Hulley
Secretaries - Amanda Thorpe and Catrin Brooks
Teachers representatives – Eirian Evans and Philip Ivins
School Lottery – Dawn Miles
Tesco Voucher Scheme – Jill Cushion
The meeting raised a lot of new ideas and suggestions for the coming year, one of which was to have a Class Representative in each class of the school to help with organising discos and rallying support for events.
Last Year the Friends raised £7500 for the school, which has been spent on updating the I.T. suite for all the children to use.
Mr Evans also informed us that he would like to update a lot of the equipment in the nursery/meithrin, and so, with your help, we aim to raise even more this year! Many hands make light work, so if you are asked to help at an event, please say YES !

School Lottery and Tesco Voucher Scheme
These are both really good ways to help raise money for the school. The lottery is drawn every month and the prizes are £30, £20 and £10. It only costs from £1 per month – less than a cup of coffee! One win and you’ve had your money back and some !
The Tesco Scheme involves us swapping your cash for Tesco giftcards which you may then use to shop in any Tesco store, petrol station or online – it costs you nothing but Tesco give 4% of all you exchange to the school. You can set it up for £50 to £500 and the giftcards are delivered to you every month – what could be simpler !
itallhelps.com/creigiau – don’t forget to shop on-line via this great link – there are hundreds of websites eg Amazon, Tesco, Borders, Play that you can access and they will all give a percentage to the school without it costing you a penny more – do your Tesco shopping on-line via the link and help us twice ! Sefydlwyd Cyfeillion Ysgol Gynradd Creigiau ym mis Ebrill 1980 fel corff i godi arian at yr ysgol. Cytunwyd y byddai digwyddiadau cymdeithasol yn cael eu cynnal yn yr ysgol ar gyfer rhieni’r plant. Gyda’r pwyslais ar gael hwyl, cafwyd amryw ddigwyddiad fel Arwerthiant Dewch a Phrynwch a gwerthiant cacennau a hufen iâ ar ddiwrnodau Mabolgampau.
Bellach, mae’r pwyslais ar y plant yn cael hwyl yn y digwyddiadau a drefnwyd gan y Cyfeillion – ein discos diwedd tymor, Parti’r Gadawyr ar gyfer plant blwyddyn 6 ayyb. Ac mae hufen iâ dal ar werth ar ddiwrnod Mabolgampau!
Rydym hefyd yn trefnu digwyddiadau teuluol – dathliadau Noson Tân Gwyllt, Barbeciwiau a Thwmpathau, Ffeiriau Nadolig, a digwyddiadau i oedolion o bryd i’w gilydd. Dros y dair mlynedd ddwethaf, rydym wedi cynnal stondin yng Ngharnifal Creigiau, yn gwerthu Pimms a mefus gan greu perthynas glós gyda phwyllgor y carnifal a Creigiau 23. Yn y blynyddoedd diweddar, rydym wedi helpu trefnu’r Ras Hwyl.
Mae’r pwyllgor yn dal i hoffi gadw’r Hwyl wrth godi arian angenrheidiol i’r ysgol. Mae croeso i unrhywun sydd a diddordeb i ymuno yn y pwyllgor, rydym yn cwrdd pob mis, yn fwy aml cyn digwyddiad mawr. Mae syniadau newydd neu rhoddion ar gyfer gwobrau raffl yn cael derbyniad mawr yn arbennig, gallwch helpu’n syml trwy fod yn rhan o gyn nifer o ddigwyddiadau a mentrau codi arian ag y gallwch chi.

Mi fu’r ddawns Teis a Thiaras yn ddechrau gwefreiddiol i’r flwyddyn. Diolch o galon i bawb a gefnogodd y noson fendigedig hon, a gododd tua £700. Cafwydd llwyth o syniadau ac awgrymiadau gwerthfawr yn y cyfarfod. Un o’r goreuon oedd dewis cynrychiolydd dosbarth, i roi hwb ac anogaeth i’n hymdrechion i gael cefnogaeth.
